~The Internal Mask~

Today a lot of people celebrating Halloween will be wearing masks to cover up their physical appearance. Sometimes it doesn't take a physical mask to camouflage or cover up something. Let me introduce you to a mask that some people wear it is called the "Internal Mask." Yes, the internal mask is the master of hiding how one feels inside. It is the smile one have on their face when they feel like crying. It is the light feather walk one has when they're carrying the world on their shoulders.

Sometimes I slap my internal mask on to eliminate the questions from the outside world. There are time I laugh to cover-up my pain inside, other times I smile to replace a frown. I know I can fool many people with my trickery. Only people who are close to me can peel that mask right off my face. Those few individuals are the ones that I usually tell my problems to. If they are not around I usually have my best friend which is my pad and pen. When I write about how I feel it take that huge weight off my shoulder. I love writing and I know we will have a lifetime relationship!

~My internal mask is therapeutic, it really helps me get through the hard times~

~Creativity~

Today I challenge you to do something creative. Pablo Picasso once said "All children are born artist, the problem is to remain an artist as we grow up." It doesn't matter what you decide to do today just make it worth wild.

I did my own nails last week and loved them. If you want to learn how to do it, look up marbled nails on youtube.

~My Name~

Have you ever looked up the meaning of your name? Well I've been knowing the meaning of my name for years. My name comes from the Bible, Candace was the Queen of the Ethiopians in the Bible. Candace also means glittering white, pure, and glowing.

I remember when I was in the 5th grade my teacher told me to come to her desk. When I came she told me that she was having a conversation with her daughter about a future name for her granddaughter. She said that she recommended her daughter to name her baby girl Candace. She said when her daughter heard my name she feel in love with it. Then she said, I just wanted you to know that somebody is going to be named after you. I smiled so hard... this story is still amazing to this day!

Your name is so powerful, don't you like when someone remembers your name? I know you do, so say your name like you love it! When you introduce yourself to someone make sure you say your name loud and proud. Let your name leave a ring in their ear, and I promised they will never forget you!

~Homecoming Weekend~

http://centralstate.edu/

I love my Alma Mater Central State University. This past weekend I took a took a rode trip to see all my CSU family at homecoming. I had so much fun and seen some people I haven't seen in a long time. My Sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Delta Omega chapter celebrated 40 years of establishment at CSU too. It's nothing like being apart of such a great organization. I really wish I took more pictures, I only got picture with my soRHOrs. I guess I will have to keep that in mind for next year's homecoming.

Also, I seen this guy I had a crush on since my freshman year. He came up to me at the party on Friday night. I didn't remember who he was at first, until he spit his information to me (he is in a fraternity). When I was leaving the party he said "don't act like you don't remember me." I replied " yes, I remember you since my freshman year." The fun thing is I never spoke to him in school, he was a senior when I was a freshman. So these last couple of days I had my personal investigate going on to get back in contact with him. I guess we will see how everything goes from here lol :)!

I wouldn't trade my HBCU college experience for anything in the world. I love my CSU family, for God, for Central, for State!!!!

~The Day I Met Eva the Diva~

I met America's Next Top Model season 3 winner Eva Pigford in my hometown a year ago. She starred in a play entitled "Me and Mrs. Jones." After the play was over the audience members were asked to take pictures with the cast members. So my family and I took pictures and spoke with all the cast members. Everybody was waiting on Eva to come out and of course she came out late and last. When she finally came out to grace the crowd with her presence, everybody's attention when straight to her. Everyone wanted to take a pictures with her and the line was ridiculously long.

Instead of waiting in line, I continued to mingle with the other cast members. A few minutes later I seen Eva run out away from the eager crowd. I don't know why she ran, she must have been overwhelmed with the crowd. I just remember her running away so fast and she said "I'm be back." One group of girls that were waiting in line said "she played us." They were right she didn't even come back. Only about three people got a chance to take a picture with her before her disappearing act.

My family is known to be the last ones leaving an event, we love to mingle. We were even chosen by the camera man to talk about our experience at the play. I made sure my comments were super dramatic to express my personality on camera. After our ten seconds of filming we departed from the theater to go home.

As we walked to the car down the block, we seen Eva the Diva. I was so surprised to see her walking so carefree. I guess she figured everybody must of went home. I asked to take a picture with her, and she had a look on her face they read no in ever language. The good thing is the same cast member that I mingled with earlier was walking with her too. He immediately began to make jokes to make us laugh (typical comedian). And after that Eva said "sure you just have to take it fast." My cousin whipped out her I-Phone and snapped that picture shown above. I was super happy because I really liked Eva on ANTM, and I remember rooting for her to win. I think I even cried when she won because I was that happy for her.

After I taking the picture we split ways going in opposing directions. Not a minute later, I heard those same girls that said "she played us" asking for a picture. It was so funny that the comedian that helped me out earlier, acted as a bodyguard to block the girls. He made sure they didn't get a picture with Eva.

The story is not about me meeting a celebrity...well maybe it is lol. The main reason I wrote about my experience is to tell you that making connects are important. If I didn't mingle with the cast members and make some type of connection, I probably would of got blocked too. Believe me you never know who can help you get to that next level. So treat everyone with dignity and respect. And make a connection while you are doing it!

~The Magic Touch~

image: comforttouchmassage.com

So, I was speaking with my cousin the other day, he is currently studying massage therapy in school. It seems like every time he learns something new, he can't wait to tell somebody. I'm usually that somebody that he tells his new found studies too lol. One day he said something to me that I never will forget. He said "my instructor told us that every massage therapist has a different touch. So if a client find a therapist they really love, they should stick with that person." Also, she told the class about how some of her clients use to stalk her for her skills.

The "Magic Touch" is not just for massage therapist. You have the magic touch too, yes I am talking to you. The "you" who is reading this right now. Your magic touch makes the people in your life love you the way that they do. Your magic touch is the skills that you have, your God given talents. Your magic touch is what makes you unique and not like the others. It can be as small as smiling and saying hello to everyone you pass daily.

What is your magic touch?

~October Monthly Inspiration~

The Rose that Grew from Concrete

Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping it's dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.

-Tupac Shakur

I decided to do something different from the monthly quote. I truly love Tupac for his poetry and this poem is just beautifully written. It just proves that anything is possible, if you just believe. People may look at you in amazement when you prove them wrong. Just like the rose that grew from concrete. In order to do it you have to take action first!! Now go chase your dreams.
